Portal has been one of the most imaginative metal bands on the market for a while, splicing ominous darkness with pure unrelenting technical ability. This album is a wonderful capstone to their discography, capturing their unapologetically dire sounds from albums past with new ventures. I would like to call out the track 'Spores', a flurry of noise working in parallel with the song's title.
Olde Guarde is easily their best.
